28/02/06 With the control gear on Philips TL5 Luminaires you do not need to state which way around the lamp is placed.... However when using multi lamp ballasts it is always a good idea to have all the lamps facing the same way ( Stamped Cold Spot End ) to eliminate potential ambient temp differences.
Some manufacturers state that you have to have the hot wires ( stamp end ) go to the shortest wires of the ballast.
Stewarts are hoping that manufactures will be placing stickers on the inside of the luminaires to ensure the lamp life and performance is not hindered by the lamp being placed the wrong way around.
