15/10/07 At a joint standards meeting EL-001 committee meeting held in Sydney last month, the revised AS/NZS 3000 was given approval to proceed to publication. There are however a number of internal quality control checks and approvals from both countries to be obtained before the printing of the standard can begin. The process is expected to be completed by November.

Approval to proceed to publication AS/NZS3017 and AS/NZS3019 was given at an earlier EL-001 meeting and is expected to be available for purchase at the same time as the revised AS/NZS3000.

The public comments received for drafts of AS/NZS3001, 3002, 2004 and AS/NZS3012 have been considered by the drafting committees. The committee working drafts of therse revised standards are currently being prepared and approval for their publication is likely to be considered at an EL-001 meeting scheduled for mid December 2007.

The internal quality control checks and approvals to be obtained by Standards Australia and Standards New Zealand before printing can begin and is not expected to be completed until early 2008.

An Electricity Regulations 1997 amendment discussion document is currently under development. It will require the revised set of electrical standards covering electrical installation work to be available before a public discussion document can be drafted. It will then be released for electrical workers, designers and others to make comment. it is not known when this will take place.
